Biagio Vincent Musto, 82, of Pittston Twp., passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Pittston Twp. on Dec. 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Honorable James A. Musto Sr. and Rose Frushon Musto. Throughout Biagioâs life, he would mention the devotion that his mother had to St. Therese âthe little flower of Jesus.â He also spoke with pride for the dedication that his father had in providing support to coal miners, as well as their children and widows. He was a graduate of Pittston Twp. High School, Kingâs College where he received a bachelorâs degree, and Catholic University where he received a masterâs degree and completed doctorial work. ....
A park along Main Street in Pittston was dedicated Sunday to honor the late state Rep. James A. Musto. The park â located between Pittston Dental and Napoliâs Pizza â was officially named the âHonorable James A. Musto, Greater Pittston Miner and Garment Worker Memorial Park.â The park features a bust of Musto and plaques funded by his family that give a history lesson on his life. Musto was responsible for pushing legislation that delivered âblack lungâ benefits to coal miners in Pennsylvania and nationwide. He was in his 23rd year in the state legislature when he died on May 2, 1971. Sundayâs dedication was held on the 50th anniversary of his death. ....
Listen to this Hard to believe, but it is May 2 and as the temperatures start to rise and plants and trees become fully bloomed, I feel like there a change in the air. Personally, I feel the more vaccines being distributed; the quicker we will get back to some type of normalcy. I’m not sure what the new normal will be, but it will surely be good to get around freely once more. We hear each week that what we had in the past such as festivals, for example, are planning to come back over the summer and into fall. I’m all for that. ....
