records for all three major averages. there is another milestone we reached today. thes 26 straight sessions s&p has moved at least 1%. this goes all the way back to july 8. we have seen the s&p up 8% in that timeline, and hitting records on multiple occasions as progress has continued to be slow progress upward. let s look at the major averages. they are holding relatively steady with gains of 4% for the s&p and the dow and s euro .6% for the nasdaq. a lot of the gains have to do with oil prices. we have seen the correlation of oil and stocks come back. it was broken for a little bit. crude oil recently entered a bear market, dropping 20%. but we have seen something up over the past five sessions. and once again today on this talk out of saudi arabia and russia about pipe stabilization at the opec meeting in algiers next month. this is having an effect on oil stocks. chevron, conoco phillips, and others are some of the larger ones on the rise. we are looking at the latest as
tuesday primary so very interesting announcement coming right here out of new jersey today, guys. all right, and the rhetoric gets uglier. alicia, thanks very much. from our delaware news room more than a dozen people woke up this morning to find tires slashed on their cars and police are still looking for whoever did it. action news reporter gray hall talked to the victims. he s live in new castle today. gray. reporter: well, brian, as you can imagine these victims are quite upset. they re waiting on police to make an arrest. you can see what many of these victims woke up to as they headed in to work this morning, their car the tires were on flat. i just hope they catch him because he did a lot of damage and i hope he get caught and they have to pay for what damage they did. reporter: charles bowen said called police and chased the teen slashers from his home early in the morning. lucky they didn t get my hands on them. reporter: they slashed the tires on his
by the gun plan did not claim more victims. the only reason he stopped shooting is because that officer stopped the shooter. reporter: as many as 300 people were inside the excel industries factory when investigators say cedric ford began firing. gun was strapped to him. he was ready to go. reporter: ford had already shot and wounded three people before he entered the planter. the bloodshed ending with ford shot and killed in a gun battle with the first officer on the scene, the hesston police chief. that particular officer is a hero. reporter: ford s shooting rampage ranged across some 6 miles and three locations believed to be motivated after ford was served way restraining order at work just 90 minutes before the first shooting. really quiet. he really didn t say much. he just he didn t he didn t look happy. currently 11 of the 14 victim interviews have been conducted by the fbily remaining victims are not able to be interviewed at this time. reporter
the destruction. cal fire is saying 888 homes have been burned by a quick moving flames that broke out exactly a week ago today. the fire is now 50% contained. it has charred more than 74,000 acres. today, evacuation orders were lifted for people living in middletown, one of the hardest hit communities. tomorrow at noon, people living in hidden valley lake will be able to go back to their homes, so a little bit of good news there. and it s not just the valley fire. fire crews are being stretched thin across the state along with the valley fire and butte fire, two more fires broke out in monterrey county. we have team coverage, nbc bay area is middletown and has more. reporter: you can feel the sense of relief. evacuees, knot knowing they would soon be home. the nightmare is halfway over. now we have to go and clean up. but there were some who were afraid to face that harsh reality. before i want to see this. now i m like, no, i don t want to see the ashes. tod
