JOHNSTOWN Fulton-Montgomery Community College is reporting steady enrollment figures for the spring semester. The Board of Trustees heard a Student Affairs Committee report from Trustee William Easterly Thursday night. Easterly said the college had 1,223 students registered for the spring semester, with just over 800 full-time equivalent students. Figures from last year were unavailable. He said the “admissions team” at FMCC is excited about the figures. He also reported FMCC has conducted “total access visit days” for prospective students and their families. During the visits, all the usual COVID-19 safety measures were in place, he said. Appointments were made, although there has been some weather issues that slightly hampered the visits, he said. ....

FMCC Trustee James Landrio of the Buildings and Grounds Committee reported to the Board of Trustees on Thursday that contracts for the college’s 2020 capital project are expected to be signed by the school’s sponsor counties shortly with related planning work ongoing. “Planning with these contractors regarding the project work schedule is ongoing and it is expected that work on the 2020 capital project will begin sometime this month,” said Landrio. Work slated for inclusion in the capital project includes replacement of the college’s obsolete fire alarm system, refurbishment of the outdated HVAC chiller system serving O’Connell Hall and installation of a monitoring alarm in the school’s wastewater treatment plant as mandated by the state Department of Envir ....
