KUALA LUMPUR (March 6): Malaysia recorded 1,680 new cases of Covid-19, with seven deaths over the past 24 hours. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the drop in the number of new cases from 2,154 recorded yesterday brought the cumulative case count to 311,777, with the death toll stood at 1,166. “A total of 2,548 recoveries were recorded today, higher than the number of daily new cases,” he tweeted. Cumulative recovered cases now stood at 289,452, with active cases at 21,159. Meanwhile, in a statement, Noor Hisham said the deaths reported today involved three patients in Selangor, three cases in Sarawak and one in Sabah, aged between 43 and 84. ....

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,692 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 186,970. In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 238,721. ADVERTISEMENT There are 50,894 active cases, with 305 patients being treated in intensive care and 139 requiring respiratory assistance. Meanwhile, the 12 deaths take the death toll to 857. The new cases today involved 3,843 local infections and four imported cases. Local cases comprised 2,569 Malaysians and 1,274 foreigners.
