Dodgers 2021 minor league coaches: Jamey Wright, John Shoemaker & more

A growing sign that the 2021 season is nearing is the announcement of minor league coaching staffs. That came Monday for the Dodgers, with several notable changes, including old friend Jamey Wright as the pitching coach in Triple-A and legendary coach John Shoemaker adding yet another city to his minor league managing résumé.
This is a season of change for minor league baseball as a whole, with a restructuring across the sport, paring down to four domestic affiliates per organization plus teams at complexes in spring training cities and the Dominican Republic. In December, major league teams invited four affiliates the Dodgers chose to stick with the same top four teams, though with Rancho Cucamonga and Great Lakes swapping Class-A levels with minor league teams having a month to sign 10-year development contracts. Here are six players available in Thursday morning’s Rule 5 draft that should be very intriguing for Twins fans.

Let me start this by saying that I would guess that there is about a 50-50 chance, maybe less, that the Twins make a Rule 5 pick this morning. However, it is always fun to at least think about what players might be available if they do choose to make a selection.
There is still much that we don’t yet know about the 2021 season. I think we assume that active rosters will be 26 as was intended to be the case in 2020 until COVID-19 rules changed that to 28. But if there are 28, there is little reason not to take a shot with a player if you believe their upside is worth it. With a 26 player roster, and with aspirations of winning a playoff series and more in 2021, it is much less likely that the Twins would make a pick. ....
