Tribune News Service Ludhiana, December 16 The Ex-Servicemen Welfare Society, Ludhiana, celebrated the historic victory of India over Pakistan during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. Several veterans had gathered to celebrate the occasion. Lt Col JS Garcha, general secretary of the society, said in the war, Lt Gen Niazi, the Commander of Pakistani Eastern Command, along with 93,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered in the presence of Lt Gen Jagjit Singh Aurora, GOC-in-charge of Indian Eastern Command, on December 16, 1971. Col Garcha said on Western Command Indian soldiers captured around 5,795 square miles of land in the west. The Indian Army was led by General Sam Manekshaw. ....
