VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Maya Metcalf scored 19 points in the first half and West Fargo Sheyenne used a 14-4 run to take a seven point lead, a lead they won’t not lose in a 73-66 win over Valley City in Eastern Dakota Conference girls basketball Friday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
Valley City jumped out to a 6-1 lead but the lead never got bigger than that for the Hi-Liners. The game would be tied at 9, 13, 15, 20 and 22.
Valley City took its last lead at 24-22 on Tesa Olson’s bucket with 2:36 remaining in the half. That’s when the Mustangs went on a 9-0 run to open up a 31-24 lead. They would take the lead for good at 26-24 on Alivia Manson’s three pointer with 2:23 to go in the first half. That lead was at seven 31-24, when Samantha Hatcher hit a three pointer from the left corner with 34 seconds left to make it 31-27. But Jadyn Feist and Maya Metcalf executed a perfect two person fast break to score at the horn to make it 33-27 at the half.

Bob Jones has announced that Halle Erickson of West Fargo, N.D., has signed to join the Dragons in the fall of 2021.
Erickson is a 6-foot-1 right-side hitter/setter who played her prep career at West Fargo High School.
“We are super excited to have Halle join our Dragon volleyball team,” Jones said. “Halle is a very versatile player who can play at either pin position in the front row and is a talented setter from the back row. She hits with great power and range while having a great touch on her sets.”
