Jade Mark Harris, 28, earlier pleaded guilty in Hutt Valley District Court to driving carelessly causing injury, not stopping after an accident and driving while forbidden.
The victim, mother-of-two Anna Chesterfield, was crossing the road in January when she was struck and flung about 15 metres down the road. ....

A 27-year-old man has pleaded guilty to a hit and run, which left a Wellington woman with serious injuries.
Anna Chesterfield was walking across a pedestrian crossing when Jade Mark Harris hit her and drove away.
In an exclusive TV interview, Anna Chesterfield told Newshub she forgives him.
Chesterfield is still lying in a hospital bed, almost three weeks after she was run over on a pedestrian crossing.
She broke at least six bones, some in her face.
Her right leg was shattered. She says she feels like a baby again as she has to relearn how to walk. ....

Jade Mark Harris, 27, faced charges in the Hutt Valley District Court of driving a vehicle carelessly causing injury, not stopping after being involved in an accident and driving while forbidden.
He told the court he was half blind and had not seen the victim.
He also said his two young children were in the car and he recalled one of them screaming.
He hid his car at a friend s house but came forward to police six days later.
Mother-of-two Anna Chesterfield was heading to the pharmacy in Taita on 30 January when his car plowed into her. ....
