Ann Ramsay gives 4-H huge tailwind in honor of mother Elizabeth McCabe

Elizabeth McCabe was co-publisher of the Jackson Hole Guide with her husband, Fred, from the late-1960 until the paper merged with the Jackson Hole News in 2002. She continued as co-publisher of the Jackson Hole News&Guide with News owner Mike Sellett until her death in 2012 at age 101. For many years throughout that time, McCabe photographed the 4-H winners at the Teton County Fair.

Ann Ramsay woke up in the middle of the night and decided to donate nearly $2 million to the 4-H program in Jackson.
The gift establishes an endowment in her motherâs name, The Elizabeth McCabe Memorial Excellence Fund for Teton County 4-H: Extension Staff. For decades, a tunnel through Teton Pass has been a curiosity for Teton County residents, a pie-in-the-sky aspirational fix to the avalanche problems on Highway 22.

Support for UW Extension employees located in Teton County is critical for the mission of the program.
For decades, McCabe was a big supporter of UW Extension programs in Teton County. She co-owned The Jackson Hole Guide newspaper, which later became The Jackson Hole News & Guide.
For decades, McCabe contributed an annual segment devoted to local 4-H participation. At the age of 100, McCabe photographed her last Teton County Fair.
In December 2020, Ramsay gifted a property located in Teton County to UW for the support of 4-H and UW Extension activities. ....

The University of Wyoming has received a $1.8 million gift from Ann Ramsay in honor of her late mother, Elizabeth McCabe, that will support 4-H and UW Extension employees located in Teton County. The Teton County 4-H Building in Jackson will be named in McCabe’s honor.
“My mother was totally devoted to the 4-H mission, and all the children and families who participated in it,” Ramsay says. ....
