Lindsey Stirling emerged from fiery orange floodlights, clad in a tribal costume with blonde dreadlocks. Ambient electronics and an ethereal melody flowed through the packed Red Rocks Amphitheater. When the beat dropped, she erupted into motion: twirling, leaping and kicking, as her bow danced across the violin’s strings.
For nearly a decade, Stirling, the “hip-hop violinist” who reached stardom through YouTube, has been known for her classical music meets EDM crossover style paired with dazzling music videos.

In honor of AAPI heritage month, four female creatives from Colorado reflect on how they identify as Asian-American, their heritage and their creative style. The spotlights include singer-songwriter Grace Clark, interdisciplinary artist Sammy Lee, screenwriter Marin Lepore and sculptor Yumi Roth.

On April 30, the University of Colorado Boulder’s Class of 2021 will perform a 12-hour marathon concert to raise money for local musicians.
The concert will feature more than 45 musicians from the College of Music’s graduating class, performing live from The Spark, a performing arts center in Boulder. The concert will be livestreamed on YouTube from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday. All donations will go toward the Boulder County Arts Alliance’s Musicians Relief Fund.
Last December, two seniors, oboist Grace Stringfellow and flutist Claire Gunsbury, decided to organize a Class of 2021 benefit concert to raise money for local musicians. They wanted to raise awareness about musicians’ financial struggles during COVID-19, while also connecting with local audiences beyond the College of Music. ....

Usually Battle of the Bands is a fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled night. Musicians are fighting tooth and nail to win the hearts of fans and the title of “Best Band.”
This year, however, due to COVID-19 restrictions, Battle of the Bands will be a slow-paced, virtual event without a live audience.
Program Council will be hosting a virtual Battle of the Bands for the Boulder community on Instagram. The submission deadline for competitors is March 5 and voting will end March 12. Though the virtual battle will be less action-packed, Program Council still hopes to engage with the wider Boulder community and offer local musicians a chance to promote their music and win prizes. ....
