(FRENCHTOWN, NJ) ArtYard presents Invisible, an exhibition featuring the work of twelve artists whose practices examine omitted histories, imperceptible forces, and unspoken narratives which render that which is apparent, misleading, or incomplete. In illuminating invisible forms of labor, unspoken emotional states, and unnoticed effects of human presence, the exhibition examines what the author Svetlana Alexievich calls “the missing history the invisible imprint of our stay on Earth and in time.” Invisible will be on view at ArtYard from January 16 to April 10. ....

[email protected]+: New Beginnings, Islip Arts and AARP Long Island are pleased to announce a new statewide virtual art exhibit embracing the theme Forever Young.
Whether new to making art or creating for a long time, if you are 50 or older, this open call is for you. Work in all media will be considered.
As part of AARP s effort to Disrupt Aging by dispelling negative stereotypes and bias toward aging, the 2021 exhibit asks New York-based artists to submit pieces that symbolize their vision and ideas to stay Forever Young. Selected artists will be featured in a virtual exhibition sponsored by AARP and shown on the Islip Art Museum website in July and August. ....

Berry Campbell Gallery is pleased to announce a survey exhibition of collage works by Queens based, African American artist, Frank Wimberley (b. 1926). Since the 1960s, Wimberley has been known for creating dynamic, multi-layered, abstract paintings described in 2001 by
New York Times art critic, Grace Glueck, as “. . . good to behold: beautifully brushed and infused with a light that magnifies their intensity. . ..” This special exhibition will feature both paintings with collage elements as well as traditional collage works on paper and will highlight some of Frank Wimberley’s most important collages to date, including several examples going back to the early 1970s. ....
