Photo: SAMAA TV The Islamabad High Court has ruled that the illegal chambers of lawyers built on a playground in Sector F-8 should be demolished. A 30-page judgement of a larger bench, authored by Chief Justice Athar Minallah, said that their chambers are ‘illegal, void and without jurisdiction and authority”. The court noted that records show that office-bearers of the Islamabad District Bar had “allotted plots in favour of some lawyers for construction of private chambers” in 2017. The bar did not obtain any “permission or authorisation from the authorities”. ....
IHC orders restoration of playground illegally allotted to lawyers by March 23 By Tuesday Feb 16, 2021 The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a detailed judgment against encroachments and unlawful construction, ordering the restoration of a playground illegally allotted to lawyers for chambers. A four-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Minallah issued a 30-page judgment stating that the role of a lawyer in the society is extraordinary and unique as he is a defender and soldier of the Constitution. The court ruled that allotments to the football ground or any other place by the Islamabad District Bar were illegal and that the lawyers who were allotted illegal chambers also did not have legal justification to build the chambers on state land. ....

PHOTO: Islamabad High Court website ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad chief commissioner has formed a joint investigation team (JIT) on Monday to probe into the Islamabad High Court (IHC) attack and a notification was also issued in this regard. According to the notification, the JIT comprises representatives of Inter-Services Intelligence, Intelligence Bureau, SSP (Investigation), Counter Terrorism Department SSP, Saddar SP, SDPO and Margalla police SHO. It further stated that the investigation team will also seek help from the IHC Bar and the Islamabad District Bar, adding that the JIT will probe the matter at Margalla and Ramna police stations. ....
