Its a real pleasure to have the opportunity to review this Book Today and to talk a little bit about the latino immigrant experience in the United States. Our guest is Ray Suarez, who has written a really terrific book entitled latino americans the 500year legacy that shaped a nation. Its a companion to the groundbreaking Pbs Series on latino americans. In barely 250 pages, ray takes the reader through the broad sweep of latino history in the United States, even before there was a United States, from the Spanish Explorers to the modern day. Its a majestic effort, in my view, seeking to discover and highlight both the History And Future of the latino experience in the United States and to put it into context in order to build a broader appreciation for the latino experience. you re live in the cnn newsroom. i m jim acosta. we start with the escalating tensions between washington and beijing as antony arrives in china few hours from now. president biden said he hopes to meet with president xi jinping. the relationship between the u.s. and china has become increasingly strained after recent incidents. last month the u.s. accused the chinese jet of conducting an unnecessarily aggressive maneuver while intercepting an american spy plane over the south china sea. and back in february, we all remember when the u.s. shot down a chinese surveillance balloon off the coast of south carolina after it had floated across the country. president biden says he believes these tensions can be ironed out. i m hoping over the next several months, i ll be meeting with xi again and talking about legitimate differences we have but also, the areas that we can get along. blinken said he hopes to reestablish line of communication with china this weekend. the biden adm
