KILLEEN, Texas As the city of Killeen continues to grow so does the need for new schools for new students moving into the area.
The sight of construction workers and homes popping up in new neighborhoods is a sign that the city of Killeen is growing.
“With the influx of people coming into the district and moving into an area that is family oriented and affordable, we have to have more schools to make sure we accommodate the students coming with those families. We have to make sure they have a great education,” Iris Felder, Executive Director of KISD Elementary Schools, said.
Saegert Elementary Assistant Principal Becky Whitelow will become the newest principal of Brookhaven Elementary this fall.
âHer natural ability to lead is easily recognized by all who come in contact with her,â the district said of Whitelow in a press release.
Whitelow, a military combat veteran, began her KISD career as a first-grade teacher at Sugar Loaf Elementary. Whitelow will replace outgoing principal Iris Felder who was recently promoted to KISD executive director of elementary schools.
Cedar Valley Elementary Assistant Principal Jessica Napolez will become the schoolâs newest principal for the 2021-2022 school year.
Napolez began her KISD career teaching at Iduma and Hay Branch elementary schools.

KILLEEN, Texas Killeen Independent School District has a new Executive Director for Elementary Schools. On Thursday, Superintendent Dr. John Craft appointed Iris Felder for the role.
Felder is the current principal at Brookhaven Elementary School. She s known to empower children to believe they can achieve their goals and dreams through hard work and dedication, a KISD news release said.
She began her career working in elementary education in 2002 when she accepted a role as a second grade teacher at Reeces Creek Elementary. Over the next 10 years, Felder served as a District Mentor Trainer, Curriculum Instructional Specialist and Assistant Principal for Cedar Valley Elementary.
