Fire crews battled the flames at a row house in northwest and at an Apartment Building in southeast. In virginia, firefighters were called to homes in annandale and in arlington, and in maryland there were 12 fires in Montgomery County alone this weekend. And there was a tragic end to a fire in annandale, a 94yearold world war ii veteran wasnt able to make it out in time. In maryland more than a dozen fires, but no serious injuries. In virginia, two new years day fires, one of them with a tragic ending. Flames raced through this home in annandale, trapping a 94yearold man inside. And tonight we are learning more about the victim from neighbors who captured images of the aftermath. News4s amee cho was at the scene on columbia road with reaction. Amee . Reporter leon, everyone on this street who knew that man says he was sweet and caring. His name was louis, but people called him mr. Lou. Neighbors tell us he used a walker and that may be why he was trapped. There is someone inside. Mr. Lou. Mr. Lou reporter as firefighters battled the flames, one neighbor stood anxiously outside waiting for news of her close friend mr. Lou. Very would later learn he didnt make it. Pressure building in continues to build in, arctic high pressure, so it doesnt necessarily bring more cold temperatures in here, but it reenforces this cold really dry air mass, with the clear sky, temperatures will continue to drop, were 17 now, look up here into the suburb, 12 for westminster, 13 dulles, 12 winchester, we dont have snow on the ground, its hard to get super cold in the Single Digits and this morning we had a lot of lot of low readings, two, three, four degrees, it will probably be right back again tonight, especially if these winds continue to drop off pretty much areawide. Windchill now, though, the winds up just a bit. Doesnt take much to make it super cold. A lot of below zero readings, gaithersburg six below, frederick three below, feels like zero for westminster, this is not constant. Kind of goes up and down, with the wind increasing or weakening, thats just kind of up and down all think it will be around zero to five for about everybody, especially in the subur
