PREVIEW: Countdown to return of Ipswich Show


IN LITTLE more than 72 hours, thousands of attendees will once again walk through the gates of Ipswich Showgrounds, signalling the return of the city’s beloved Ipswich Show.
It will be the first major multi-day event to take place for the city in 2021 after organisers were last year forced to cancel it due to COVID-19 lockdown.
While kick-off for the three-day event nears, seasoned workers setting up sideshow alley and food stalls remain cool, calm and collected despite the big job at hand.
The popular dodgem cars will likely draw crowds come Friday.

A NEW addition to next month’s Ipswich Show is sure to have attendees grinning with delight as the city’s snooker talent takes centre stage.
Ipswich Eight Ball Association this week revealed it would host its first-ever major cash tournament as part of the annual show.
Local talent Chris Hogan is one of the 64 players from across southeast Queensland set to battle it out for the $4000 grand prize.
He said the two-day tournament, to be held across Saturday and Sunday, was a fantastic opportunity to promote the sport.
“It’s a great event, I think it’s a great opportunity for the club to show we’re here and to show off our talent in Ipswich. It’s a great opportunity for everyone, the seniors and the juniors,” Mr Hogan said. ....
