backtracks. good morning, welcome to way too early. will we ll begin with a stark new warning from the president of the united states when it comes to the threat of nuclear war. last night in new york city, president biden said the risk of nuclear armageddon is the highest it has been in roughly 60 years. since president kennedy and the cuban missile crisis. it all stems from russia s flail invasion of ukraine. biden said his russian counterpart putin is not joking when he talks about potential use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons. because his military is, you might say, significantly underperforming. russia has faced huge setbacks on the battlefield as ukrainian forces continue to take back land illegally occupied by moscow. there has been widespread concern that kremlin could use a weapon of mass destruction to regain some footing in the war. but in the words of president biden, i don t think there is any such thing as the ability to easily

run after to buy because our financing, our credit rating, our reputation in the united states in terms of investment is just in the world. this is not going to go boom on thursday even though we reach the limit. this shows the u.s. in a moment of weakness. that is the treasury department not deferring and putting investmentes into the, you know, the pension funds, the sufficiently service. well, retirement funds of civil service. that is not really good. at some point, can you give the mini military an iou. can you tell them if you get to the end of that line and actually are defaulting, can you not issue new debt. can you start to give ious to people that get checks from the government. again, all very big position of weakness.
these where he can tout administration accomplishmentes. tell us why the chips act and what it could mean is so important. well, the chips act has been a huge priority for biden and particularly the commerce department to really signal that they are aware that so many jobs particularly in manufacturing have moved abroad to places like china and that s really been interesting to watch, especially since working class voters have moved so heavily to the republican party. but were once such a huge part of democrats base. so they re definitely touting the investmentes from ibm, $20 billion. we saw another announcement earlier this week from micron for $100 billion. they ve been able to bring in some of the investments from foreign countries and really signal to people who have been frustrated for a long time about this loss of manufacturing jobs, particularly in the midwest.
