What happened in 2021, after a global investigation found that an Israeli-built malware had been used to infect phones in India and abroad? What did the government say, and what happened after the Supreme Court took up the matter?
A Supreme Court-appointed committee which probed the Pegasus snooping scandal has concluded that the Israeli spyware was not found in the 29 mobile phones examined by it even as it detected some other malware in five of the phones.
The Pegasus panel, in its report submitted in the Supreme Court, said the presence of controversial Israeli spyware Pegasus was not conclusively established in 29 mobile phones examined, and also the Central government did not cooperate in the probe.
