Subscriber only A motorcyclist who was allegedly caught doing wheelies at speeds above 200km/h along the Sunshine Motorway has faced court. Dylan Jay Cummins was stopped by officers from the Sunshine Coast road policing unit on March 23 after he was allegedly seen travelling at high speeds in wet conditions. The Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard that police searched Mr Cummins Pacific Paradise home the next day, finding the motorbike and a hydroponic set-up with mature marijuana plants. Acting Inspector Shane Panoho said in March that Mr Cummins received a fine of $17,000 and lost 93 demerit points.
There were six traffic infringement notices issued.

Sunshine Coast district acting Inspector Shane Panoho said on Thursday the sting was set up to reinforce the damaging effects of drink and drug driving.
“This shows that anywhere, anytime, you can expect to see police on our roads,” Insp Panoho said.
“We can pop up near industrial locations, residential or major arterials.
“We are tired of having to go to serious road crashes, where people’s loved ones are being harmed, injured or killed.”

There s also the possibility of a thunderstorm near the coast in the morning and across the hinterland later today. Maleny will reach a maximum temperature of 26C, while a majority of the region will sit at 28C. Low tide was at 1.15am at 0.33m and high tide will be at 7.43am at 1.93m. The next low tide is scheduled for 2.02pm at 0.39m while high tide reaches 1.57m at 7.53pm.

It comes after a similar operation on the Bruce Highway at the Glasshouse Mountains last week when more than 700 motorists were subject to a roadside test.
Of those, 16 people recorded positive readings for drug and alcohol.
Unlike the Bruce Highway sting where motorists were diverted off the highway, the Maroochydore Rd operation will be done at random.
