Farmer jailed 5yrs for stealing cocoa beans LISTEN JAN 20, 2021 A farmer, Prince Kwaku Kodua, who stole GH¢5,280 worth of cocoa beans from a cocoa merchant at Kokodei in the Ashanti Region has been sentenced to five years imprisonment. Kodua, 38, was sentenced at the Bekwai Circuit Court after admitting stealing, contrary to section 124 (1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29). Prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector Ofori said during trial that the convict conspired with his wife, Akosua Achiaa, who is at large, to steal the cocoa beans which they later sold back to the complainant, Akosua Fremah. According to him, 60-year-old Akosua Fremah, who is a cocoa merchant, employed the convict about six months ago to work for her as a farm labourer at her coca drying shed. ....
Court jails farmer five years for stealing cocoa LISTEN JAN 9, 2021 The Asante Bekwai Circuit Court has sentenced a farmer who stole his employer s bags of cocoa beans and nicodemusly sold them back to her to five years imprisonment in hard labour. Prince Kwaku Dua admitted conspiring with his wife Akosua Achiaa, (at large) to steal the two bags of cocoa beans valued GH¢1,320.00. Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ofori told the Court presided over by Mr Mark Timarah Diboro that Madam Akosua Frema, 60, the complainant, is a cocoa farmer and merchant. Kodua, the convict and his wife lived with the complainant in the same house at Kokodei in the Ashanti region, he said. ....
