The Asante Bekwai Circuit Court has sentenced a shop attendant to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for robbing a student nurse.
Akwasi Anokye Boateng, 24, pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea. His accomplice, only identified as Omega, is currently on the run.
Prosecuting, Police Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ofori, told the Court presided over by Mr Mark Timarah Diboro, that Ms Tabitha Mensah, was the complainant who is a student nurse whilst Boakye, the convict lives at Aboabo, a suburb of Kumasi.
He said on February 21, 2021, at about 1530 hours, the complainant was walking from her dormitory to the classroom to study when the two attacked her on knife point, Boakye ordered her to handover her cellular phone or else she would be killed.

The Ashanti Bekwai Circuit Court has sentenced one Kwame Obeng Tutu, 28-year-old fortune teller to seven years imprisonment in hard Labour for stealing.
Tutu, who stole mobile phones and other items pleaded guilty with explanation that his wife was in labour, thus, he needed money for Caesarean operatiion.
The Court presided over by Mr Marc Diboro Tirimah found the act unacceptable and sentenced him accordingly.
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ofori told the Court that the complainants; Mr Daniel Osei Effah and Mr Joseph Amedomey were a teacher and health worker, respectively.
He said they lived at Dominase whilst Tutu lived at Tanoso in Kumasi.
Washing bay labourer jailed five years for theft LISTEN

A Bekwai Circuit Court has jailed a washing bay labourer five years in hard labour for stealing.
Eric Kwabena Antwi together with Yaw Sarpong stole the belongings valued at GHC4,840.00 of Madam Felicia Alugushie, a trader.
Antwi, alias Abompe denied conspiring to steal, causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry and stealing but was found culpable after trial.
Meanwhile, Sarpong, his accomplice is on the run and the Police have mounted a search for him.
Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ofori told the Court presided over by Mr Mark Timarah Diboro, that Madam Alugushie is the complainant.
