trial went through congress and he was acquitted, he shouldn t be tried for the se act. i reached out to his attorney in georgia. he sent me a statement basically saying this. president trump today has filed three persuasive motions seeking a complete dismissal of the inindictment to the fulton county d.a. s politically based prosecution. reached out to the d.a. s office. they re declining to comment on this as well. but this comes in the context of the d.a. s office wanting to start this trial in august. trump s attorneys had previously pushed back on that saying it would amount to essentially election interference saing that because it would come in the final week of the 2024 campaign and likely stretch through election day, they want to see that trial date moved, jose. thank you so much. lisa, what do you make of these new motions? jose, in some respects, this is much adieu about nothing in so far as these are arguments

steve, good afternoon. trace, good afternoon. wore here in the fulton county courthouse where you can see there s stepped up security already. they have the orange barricades up in what could be possible unrest here if there s a possible inindictment against former president trump and perhaps some of his allies as well. a lot of court workers have been told to work from home during the month of august and judges have been told not to schedule trials during the week of august 7-14. the district attorney has said we re ready to go about her case and one of the key elements in this case could be a phone call. a phone call between then president trump in january 2021 and the chief election official here in georgia, brad raffensperger. it was during that call that the president asked raffensperger to try to find votes for president trump to give him the state of georgia, a state which joe biden won by just 11,000 votes, razor thin margin.
