The Sõpruse Bridge (Sõpruse sild), the longest bridge in Estonia, which connects the Annelinn and Karlova districts in the city of Tartu, is on the verge of collapsing, experts say, and repairs should begin immediately. In contrast to what the city had hoped for a year ago, the state did not approve funding for the reconstruction of the bridge.
Work on an extension of Estonia's rail network to the western town of Haapsalu can be put on hold until the necessary design work has been completed, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas (Reform) says.
The Haapsalu railroad has been shelved after it was dropped from the European recovery plan's list of supported projects. The railroad can be built only once it has been designed, the PM said.
