External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday met Iranian Ambassador to India Ali Chegeni on completion of his tenure and appreciated his contribution to building India-Iran ties.
With key focus on the Chabahar port project and connectivity, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari is on a 2-day India visit starting Monday. The visit comes even as focus is on increasing economic engagement between the two countries. It is not known so far that will the issue of import of Iranian oil will be discussed during talks in Delhi. India is currently not buying crude oil from Iran after American sanction in 2019 announced by then US President Trump.

The envoy of Kyrgyz Republic Asein Isaev has said that India and Iran are working to prove Central Asian countries "own part" in the Chabahar port with the aim to smoothen the transport of goods.
Speaking to our diplomatic correspondent Sidhant Sibal, Envoy Isaev said,"If we are going to use Chabahar port, the duration of delivery of good from India to Kyrgyzstan will be just two weeks from the current 30 or 45 days using different ports."
Iran's foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian will be travelling to the southern Indian city of Hyderabad during his India visit on Tuesday. Iran has a consulate in Hyderabad.
It will be his first visit to India after taking charge last year. The Iranian foreign minister will hold talks with Indian external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar on Monday in Delhi after arriving on Sunday. On the table will be a number of issues on connectivity, trade and Afghanistan.
