New Delhi [India], December 21 (ANI): Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Monday reassured the people of the country that the Central government is alert about the new coronavirus strain emerging from the United Kingdom, adding that there is no need to panic. The government is alert. There is no need to panic, said Union Minister while addressing the curtain-raiser press conference on India International Science Festival 2020.

This comes after the UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock had on Sunday said that the new strain of coronavirus found in their country is “out of control”.

Direct flight services between Shillong, Delhi launched
Meghalaya was connected with the national capital by direct flight services on Monday, coinciding with the state reopening for tourists after remaining closed for nine months due to COVID-19 outbreak, an official said.
State Transport Minister S Dhar took the Flybig.in flight from Delhi which landed at Shillong airport, 25 km from the state capital, in the afternoon.
New coronavirus strain: India suspends all UK fights till December 31
As a precautionary measure, the government has all announced that all passengers arriving from the UK in all transit flights (flights that have taken off or flights which are reaching India before Dec 22 at 23:59 hrs) will also be subject to mandatory RT-PCR test on arrival at the airports concerned. Flights from India to UK are also suspended for the above said period
The Aviation Ministry Monday announced suspensions of all flight from United Kingdom (UK) to India from December 23 to December 31. The step has been taken amid concerns over the emergence of a new coronavirus strain in the UK.
