Bumper collection of 13,500 period pamper packs donated to Burnley hub for vulnerable girls and women
A donation of 13,500 period pamper packs have been donated to Burnley Together, the community hub launched in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The donations comes from the Female Health and Hygiene Project, a scheme ran from the BEST Centre in Hapton, which works with local organisations to deliver complimentary sanitary period packs.
The team hopes to give back to the community while challenging stigmas and raising awareness around the often-taboo topic of period poverty.
Alongside other essentials, such as food parcels, nappies and household products provided by Burnley Together, these packs, which are funded by a National Lottery grant and donations from the public, provide important items such as tampons, sanitary pads, body sprays, intimate wipes and deodorants. ....

Baby WASH: Supporting nutrition outcomes with water, sanitation and hygiene

An approach known as ‘Baby WASH’ aims to address frequently overlooked environmental and personal hygiene risks by encouraging food hygiene, clean play spaces, control of animal feces, and child handwashing.
Poor nutrition and frequent infections among children can cause stunting, or impaired growth and development. Stunting limits children both physically and mentally and continues to affect their health and productivity well into adulthood. Lack of access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), neglect, food insecurity, and feeding of low quantity, quality and diversity can magnify the effects of stunting. In the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, stunting affects around 40% of children under the age of five   ....

IVORY COAST/BENIN: a water and sanitation project will benefit 16 councils

On December 8th, 2020, the Ivorian government officially launched the Municipal Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Project in West Africa (MuniWASH). The Project is being implemented in 16 municipalities in Ivory Coast and Benin by the American engineering company Tetra Tech, in partnership with the African Water Association (AfWA). The initiative is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Municipal Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Project in West Africa (MuniWASH) is officially launched after a long process of selecting the beneficiary municipalities. A total of 16 municipalities have been selected for the project, including eight in Ivory Coast and eight in Benin. They were selected on the basis of a diagnostic study of water and sanitation needs. ....
