The Reeve of North Huron is excited to see an OPP satellite office open up in Wingham. The detachment was one of several closed in Huron County after the opening of the main detachment in Clinton (shown in photo) last June. Bernie Bailey says the new office space located in the back of Petropolis (on Josephine Street) was loaned out by a pair of Wingham businessmen (Doug Kuyvenhoven and Jeff Drost). He says it was borne by a need to have some OPP presence in the town.
Bailey says despite losing their local police service in favour of the Ontario Provincial Police, residents are quite happy with the service. ....
