The Hunt County Commissioners Court is scheduled today to again hear from local hospital officials regarding federal grant funding to help deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Texas Department of State Health Services is reporting a continued decline in active COVID-19 cases in Hunt County, although additional deaths have been attributed to the virus.
Local hospital officials are reporting significant reductions in the number of COVID-19 patients, enough to where the Commerce facility can be reopened later this month.
Hunt Regional Medical Center CEO Richard Carter shared news via press release Tuesday that the Emergency Medical Center in Commerce, TX will reopen at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28. The Commerce facility has been closed since August 7, 2021, while staffing and resources were redirected to COVID-19 and related care at the Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, TX.
