Hugs Over Masks Protest at City Hall
Hamilton Police have charged Hugs Over Masks protesters after an event that took place in the front of Hamilton’s City Hall.
On Sunday, May 9th, 2021 at approximately 12:00 p.m., Hugs Over Mask protesters attended the forecourt of City Hall to protest current COVID restrictions.
All individuals involved were not wearing a face covering.
The City of Hamilton By-Law Enforcement and Hamilton Police attended the event and confirmed that the individuals were in violation.
Hamilton Police are reminding the public that participation in such events could result in charges being laid pursuant to the Reopening Ontario Act. ....

The claim: Parents in Vail, Arizona, took over the school board and removed the mask mandate
A group of parents protesting mask mandates recently swarmed a Vail Unified School District meeting in Arizona, sparking online claims of a school board takeover by the group. 
The protest followed Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey s April 19 announcement rescinding the statewide order that directed K-12 schools to require masks. This gave districts the option to implement their own face-covering policies, which the Vail school board was planning to discuss before the meeting was canceled due to safety concerns.
While the district has disputed claims that the parents replaced the school board, some users on social media claim the parents meeting had a legal effect. ....

Hamilton police and bylaw officers have laid 20 charges following a pair of lockdown protests over the weekend that included hundreds of people.
The first protest happened on Saturday near Kenilworth Avenue North and Barton Street East, police say.
Approximately 300 people in attendance. Police will be in the area for public safety and enforcement. #StayHome, the service tweeted about the event in the Crown Point East neighbourhood just before 3 p.m. that day.
On Monday, the service updated the count, saying that more than 400 people had participated. ....
