Planning permission is being sought for a three-bed bungalow on the site of a pottery in Niton High Street. A former butchers shop, the building is currently the home of Tregear Pottery, which has just reopened after a combination of the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions and illness. The pottery, which houses a workshop and retail outlet, has become part of Niton life in the nine years it has operated, forging links with the village primary school and offering tuition and tours. Work by potter Neil Tregear sells widely throughout Britain and further afield. Objections to the planning application have been lodged on the Isle of Wight Council s website, with those against the plans calling the business well respected and thriving and arguing that its location at the centre of the village [is in] an area that needs to retain commercial businesses. ....
