Pine Lake residents can return to the area, but the Hualapai Mountain Park and Hualapai Mountain Park Lodge remain closed to visitors. Non-residents will be turned away from Pine Lake. Bureau of Land Management spokesperson Dolores Garcia said the areas will be closed while the county evaluates hiking trails and campgrounds for hazards. The Bureau of Land Management has also closed portions of BLM Road 7101 and BLM Road 7178 for hazard assessments. Firefighters are working in the area to clear hazards and vegetation, as well as extinguish the heat-producing white smoke found in places like large limbs and along the containment line, Garcia explained. ....
The Flag Fire in the Hualapai Mountains near Kingman has prompted evacuations and a road closure. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuation orders for Hualapai Mountain Park, Hualapai Mountain Park Lodge and the Pine Lake Community. The Sheriff s Office told evacuees to use Hualapai Mountain Road as their exit. The road was closed to everyone except evacuees and first responders at milepost 10. The fire was first reported on Sunday around 2 p.m., originating between the Flag Mine and Wild Cow Campground in the Hualapai Mountains, according to the Bureau of Land Management information post on InciWeb. The fuels for the Flag Fire are ponderosa pine at higher elevations as well as brush and grass. The cause is currently under investigation. ....
The Flag Fire near Kingman nearly doubled in size to 1,400 acres from Sunday night as fire crews battled high winds. No structures were lost and no one was injured as of 12:15 p.m., according to a tweet from the Bureau of Land Management in Arizona. The fire, which is 0% contained, prompted evacuation orders in the areas of Hualapai Mountain Park, Hualapai Mountain Park Lodge and Pine Lake. In addition, Pine Lake Fire Department alerted the communities of Atherton Acres and Pinions Pines, of possible evacuations and moved them up to a “Set” stage of the “Ready, Set, Go” evacuation guideline. ....
