good morning, everyone. we begin with the severe weather rumbling through parts of the plains, midwest and south spawning heavy rain, large hail and deadly tornadoes. at least 17 people have been killed if two states and countless homes destroyed with some communities h it s the nation s biggest outbreak this year. and the threat isn t over yet. 17 states under high alert through at least the next couple of days. abc s kristin fisher has the latest. reporter: a path of destruction stretches for at least 30 miles near little rock, arkansas. some of the worst damage is here in mayflower where several people were killed. homes leveled. cars blown off the road. the photographer for an abc station in little rock that filmed this footage could hardly find the words to describe the damage. there is so much debris, it s hard to even tell what was what. this was a strong tornado. reporter: arkansas was hit the hardest, but sunday night tornadoes also touched down in ok ....

severe flooding is still dumping rain on several states. yeah. the slow-moving system caused scenes like this one, from florida to new york, over the past 24 hours. there s been multiple rescues from cars and buildings overnight. and it s not over yet for millions of americans. abc s tahman bradley has the very latest. reporter: relentless rain is causing massive flooding along the east coast. the water has engulfed homes and wiped out roads. in baltimore, this road collapsed, sending cars tumbling into a ravine. the sidewalk s gone. the cars are gone. and everything just fell. it was like somebody came by and just ripped off the side of the road. reporter: outside washington, d.c., this man drove onto a bridge and got stuck. he had to be rescued by a team using an inflatable raft. the torrential downpour was too much for creeks and streams to handle. so, water went rushing into homes. this woman s basement is filled with sewage water. floored had buckled up ....
frozen. good friday morning. we begin with that chilling plot by a minnesota teen to kill his family and stage a massacre at his high school. and the only thing that stopped the 17-year-old from moving forward with his plan, was a single eagle-eyed witness who tipped off police. it all unfolded in the small town 80 miles south of minneapolis. abc s josh haskell is following the investigation and has the latest. reporter: john ladue sits in a juvenile detention center after police recovered explosives, guns, and ammunition they say belonged to him, to be used in an attack in the next few weeks. during his interview with officers, ladue revealed his plan was to kill his family members, start a diversionary fire in rural waseca to distract first responders, and travel to the waseca junior high school. reporter: there, authorities say ladue planned to detonate the prepared bombs, allegedly manufactured in a storage locker at this facility, where the teen was tak ....
