up. parts of the midwest thin a shambles this morning after devastating tornadoes tear through the midwest. joplin, missouri, two dozen are dead. that s where jeff barnthal is right now and he s live. jeff? yeah, brian, just a heartbreaking situation here. we re in one of the neighborhoods, many neighborhoods that were hit hard right next to this house was a three car garage. it is now gone. the house itself, the roof blown off. the couple living here with their 5-year-old child were huddled in in their basement. you can see an opening. that s where they were when this tornado came through last night around 6:00. some of the damage you can still see in the trees up near the tree tops here as the wind whipped through here. a number of other areas hit include businesses and also a major hospital hit, some 100 patients had to be transported from the hospital, st. john s here in joplin to another area
