MANSFIELD - A 49-year-old woman charged with nine counts of cruelty to companion animals is seeking intervention in lieu of conviction.
Cara Welty was scheduled to change her plea Thursday in Richland County Common Pleas Court.
Instead, Judge Phil Naumoff scheduled a merits hearing for June 10.
A hearing on the merits is a formal court hearing, conducted under the rules of evidence, to decide issues put forward in the complaint or summons. Naumoff will make the decision.
