With stpehen sackur. Welcome to hardtalk. Im stephen sackur. For many filmmakers and filmgoers movies are about escapism and entertainment. Look at the listings in your local cinema and youll see what i mean. But not so for my guest today. One of the most lauded and durable directors in the uk Film Industry ken loach. He has made 27 films, he has won the biggest prize at cannes twice, and yet his films are the very opposite of escapism. His latest is an unrelenting, bleak take on the exploitation of workers in the so called gig economy. If entertainment isnt his mission, what is . Ken loach, welcome to hardtalk. Thanks very much. A pleasure to be here. Around five years ago, i seem to recall, there was some talk of you maybe not making movies for very much longer if at all. Yet here you sit having just made another movie, sorry we missed you, before that you made i, daniel blake, which won a huge prize at cannes. So can we take it ....

Author and long time correspondent for die welt, thomas kielinger. Political commentator alexander nekrassov. 9th november 1989. The day the berlin wall came down. Those who poured across it made history, others watched and wept. Europe whole and free proclaimed the United States. Marginally, they are at 120 seats, but their normal putney would be podemos, with them they would not get the 176 seats required, the right has also done well but they do not have enough seats. There will be lots of negotiations. It is a story all over europe, we had here with 2017 by theresa may, we had in germany, and is, we have had it in italy, it is a european story. It is a european story where we have many key countries, as you mentioned, with coalition governments. France was the one that bucked the trend with a Brand New Party created by emmanuel macron. But we will see what the next election will bring because the by election has proved not all is that wealth up you mention the fact that in spain the conservative Popular Party came in second, but what is interesting is that the right Wing Party Vox did extremel ....
Us. Thousands of pg e customers are still living without power because of the shut offs. Service is being restored for many. Pg e tells us 86,000 customers do not have electricity. The numb of people without power in ma rin dropped by half. And no longer expected to be part of the event that started today. There are outages in the east bay, south bay and peninsula. For many of the people theres no estimate for power restored. Anxious wait for them. Ongoing is the keyword. Some of the power came on here at 4 00 p. M. This gas station is on a different kind of power grid. They had pour all day. They sold 8,000 gallons worth of gas. Theyre running out. All they have is premium. A more noble assignment. A fish tank and a refrigerator. Its working. As for the rest of us. I have been in line for an ....
Had a very hard time getting a handle on this fire. It erupted so quickly, roaring through this geyserville neighborhood. You can see this is one of the several houses destroyed by the fire. It is still smoldering. This far is so far zero percent contained. Wind speeds were 65 to 70 Miles Per Hour. The fire was really outpacing the fire fight. This is what firefighters faced overnight as a windwhipped fire blew through parts of geyserville, gobbling up at least half a dozen houses and forcing people and animals to flee to safety. It was everything we could do to try to stay ahead of it but 10,000 acres came fairly quickly. By daylight things had settled down a bit but plenty of damage had been done as propane tanks finished burning and the melted material on power lines dripped down. Tonight firefighters are attacking the fire from the sky as the flames have moved up into the rugged hills. Animal rescuers are also hard at work try ....
