Orleans Parish School Board Changing Names Of 21 School Buildings

Apr 26, 2021 The Orleans Parish School Board is changing the names of school buildings. Board members have agreed to rename 21 school buildings including Henry W. Allen Elementary, Audubon School, and O. Perry Walker High. Officials say that while the school buildings will receive new names, the charters don t necessarily have to call themselves by the new name. The name changes are part of a city initiative to rename streets and public buildings named after slave owners, Confederate officials and segregation supporters.
