Some families to the south being told to leave now. While, others in the north bay are finding their homes have already burned. And tonight, fear for firefighters about possible Lightning Strikes. Good evening. Thank you for joining us. Im eric thomas. This is a quick look at three big fires burning in the bay area. The lnu complex, in the north bay, has charred more than 347,000 acres. It is the secondestlargest wildfire in california history. The scu complex, which covers parts of alameda, contra costa, and santa clara counties, is right behind at 343,000 acres. And the czu complex is up to 74,000 acres. It is burning in san mateo and santa cruz counties. A crew in the north bay at the lnu complex and a crew in the south bay at the scu complex. Bu ....

And new overnight contra costa fire crews were responding to at least 13 fires. There were four fires in the span of 30 minutes that involved two cars and two homes in concord. So chances of conflict are much higher between bicyclists, pedestrians, and cars, all competing on these narrow streets. Keep in mind, most of the daytime population is concentrated in the downtown area. Thats also where many of the fatalities occur. In 2014, the city launched vision zero to reduce fatalities. Since then, city workers added more protective bike lanes. Constructed street calms measures and updated Traffic Signals to give pedestrians more time and a head start in the crosswalk. But critics say without drastic measures they wont be able to cut pedestrian fatalities down to zero any time soon. Walk sf is a nonprofit that advocates for pedestrian safety.
