MOORHEAD Applications will be opening this Thursday, March 4, to fill the vacant seat on the Moorhead City council created after former Ward Two Councilwoman Shelly Carlson was appointed mayor.
Carlson, after being voted in by the council in February, replaced former Mayor Johnathan Judd after he was selected by Gov. Tim Walz to be a district court judge
Ward Two includes in the east-central part of the city mostly east of 11th Street South, north of Interstate 94 and south of Fourth Avenue South. Council member Laura Caroon, who was just elected in November, is the other current council member from that ward.

MOORHEAD The City of Moorhead s Inclusive Playground was a top priority before the COVID-19 pandemic. When all is said and done, it ll be the first of its magnitude in the area.
Jen Troska has recently taken the roll as champion of the project. For years, she s been looking for safe places to play for her son, who has special needs, and also for other families in the support groups she is in. It s really difficult to find a place to cater to all the families, Troska said. We really aren t and have never been able to use the other parks in the area.

MOORHEAD Four Moorhead City Council members were sworn in to four-year terms just before the Monday, Jan. 11, meeting.
Two of the members are new to the nine-member council composed of two members from each of the city s four wards and the mayor. They are Matt Gilbertson of Ward 1, which encompasses north Moorhead, while Laura Caroon, who ran unopposed in the November election, will serve Ward 2, which includes most of the east-central part of the city.
