Indian states like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand recorded highest maximum temperature in February. IMD has predicted heat wave like condition in parts of Gujarat till 21 Feb
Now, winds have changed direction and blowing from the west and Northwest over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Temperatures are expected to increase but we do not expect heat wave to make a comeback over Madhya Pradesh.
Weather of Northwest India will clear up again and temperatures are going to increase over most parts of Northwest and northern plains. Heat wave will make a comeback over most parts of Rajasthan, parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Isolated pockets of these States may witness severe heat wave.
Hot winds are blowing across the border sweeping parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Severe heat from the parched areas of Pakistan is getting advected over the border states. Heat wave conditions, becoming severe in few pockets are likely to extend well even to the next week, without any major relief.
Moreover, States of Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and even parts of Karnataka are observing temperatures well above the normal levels ranging in the 40s. On the other side, the state of Odisha which is usually the hottest pocket during this period is not even seen maximum reaching 40°.
