On Tuesday, federal health care agencies called for a pause of the Johnson & Johnson version of the COVID-19 vaccine.
It comes after six women ages 18 to 48 contracted blood clots one to three weeks after receiving the vaccine. One woman has died. It is estimated that around 7 million Americans have received the vaccine.
Johnson & Johnson (J&J) provides the only single dose version of the vaccine. Moderna and Pfizer require two doses. ....

The officials were Patricia Boswell, administrator of the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County; Joe Pozzo, Volusia County’s public protection director; and Randa Matusiak, special projects coordinator for Volusia County.

What are the latest local trends showing?
Matusiak: We are starting to see a decline in new cases. In fact, there was about a 42 percent decline in average new cases thus far in February as compared to January. ....

Volusia County Announces Next COVID-19 Vaccine Events

DeLand, FL - Registration opens at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Monday, February 8, for the next COVID-19 vaccine events at the Volusia County Fairgrounds, 3150 E. New York Ave., DeLand, this week. Vaccination appointments will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 9 and 11. The County of Volusia/Department of Health-Volusia County say there are 1,000 appointments available each day. The events are for Florida residents age 65 and older.  The site will operate as a drive-up site and pre-registration is required. Only the Moderna vaccine will be provided at this site. Appointments are required and must be made online at www.countyofvolusia.eventbrite.com or by calling 866-345-0345. You will need proof of Florida residency at your appointment. Why so little info?
If there is a common thread to your articles about  the virus and the Department of Health-Volusia County, it is Information was not provided. Why the secrecy? What is so sensitive, that we cannot be given more facts on this vital issue?
In the News-Journal  article about the  January 4-5 vaccination at the Daytona Stadium, a spokesman did say that they hope to vaccinate  around 2,000 people. There are 50,000 seniors 75 and above in Volusia County!  Only the scantiest information about this hugely important event is being released. 
Doses are arriving daily. How many, we are not told. Allocation, we are not told. After waiting almost a year, we are expected to just sit around and hope we don t die before they get to us.  ....
