(Courtesy of 1501st Community Defense Center) BUTUAN CITY - Thousands of residents in Butuan City as well as in the neighboring provinces of Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur fled their homes as the trough of the low-pressure area (LPA) brought heavy rains that caused flooding and landslides Saturday. (File phoro) MANILA - The low pressure area (LPA) northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur will continue to bring rains over most areas in the country, the weather bureau said Friday. The LPA embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Visayas, Mindanao, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, and Quezon. The tropical cyclone being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was last tracked 2,270 kilometers east of Mindanao. "It is expected to enter PAR by Monday. However, we do not expect it to have a direct effect on the country," Ezra Bulquerin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. For Friday's forecast, Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Aurora will continue to experience rains while isolated light rains will prevail over Ilocos Region, Abra and Benguet due to the northeasterly surface windflow. Metro ....
MANILA - Generally fair weather with isolated rains will prevail over most parts of the country, the weather bureau said Friday. In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the shear line affecting the eastern section of southern Luzon and the Visayas will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Aurora, Quezon, the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and the Kalayaan Islands. Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to heavy rains, PAGASA said. Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon affecting northern and central Luzon will cause light rains over Cagayan Valley, and isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of central Luzon. "The easterlies are affecting the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao. These areas will experience warm weather, with isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening," PAGASA forecaster Ezra Bulquerin said. ....
MANILA - Three weather systems affecting the country will continue to dampen most parts of the archipelago Thursday, the weather bureau said. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the low pressure area (LPA), last tracked over the Sulu Sea and 255 kilometers south-southwest of Puerto Princesa City, would bring cloudy skies and rains across the country. However, the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. The shear line is also affecting most of the Visayas, bringing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Both the LPA and the shear line will dampen the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan. Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to heavy rains. Aurelio said the northeast monsoon or amihan is affecting most of Luzon and will bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Bicol Region, the rest of Mimaropa, Aurora, and Quezon.
