High Point University welcomes three new members to the Board of Trustees. They are as follows:
 
Steve Pond has
 a rich background in the fields of publishing and education. He founded Furniture Today, Home Textiles Today, Home Accents Today and several other home furnishings business publications. He served as president of the North American Newspaper division of Reed Elsevier, president of Variety Inc., and chairman of North Star Travel Media, which included Travel Weekly, Meetings and Conventions, and other business travel publications. He published and owned The Mail Box, a source of print and online publications for grade school teachers across America.  ....

What encouraged you to start your own enterprise?
I worked in India in the 90’s when technology enhancements had just begun. A job opportunity led me to shift to the US where I continued to work for around 8 years. In 2005, I moved back to India and took up a job. During this transition, I was constantly observing the technology void faced by businesses and realised that there were gaps which could be filled with an innovative tech model.
That’s when the idea and motivation of starting on my own came to my mind. A seamless transformation for businesses was the need of the hour and the industry was at the nascent stage. The mission of my business is to solve challenging business scenarios and think ahead of time. This wasn’t easy. Frontiers | Plausible Scenarios for Thai Energy Businesses in the Next 30 Years

The energy sector is currently facing different challenges. It is necessary for business leaders to understand the forthcoming changes that will affect their businesses in order to prepare themselves for any uncertainties and take advantage of new opportunities. This paper identifies changes that are expected to have an impact on Thailand’s energy system in the next 30 years and explores plausible scenarios for Thailand’s energy sector under such changes. The study starts with an examination of global and local circumstances. The examination pinpoints a focal issue as “to achieve sustainable development goals (SDG) by 2050”. Then, STEEP analysis is implemented to identify business drivers in social (S), technological (T), economical (E), ecological (E), and political (P) aspects.
