Plans show that the North 6th Street Lofts, a five-story apartment building will be built along Sixth Street in Harrisburg.
There are a lot of construction projects going on in Harrisburg at the moment, from older properties being converted into apartments to larger residential projects to a seven-story mixed-use building that will include a 500-space parking garage.
“It really is an amazing amount of development that’s going on here in the city of Harrisburg unprecedented,” Brad Jones, CEO of Harristown Enterprises said on Mayor Eric Papenfuse’s weekly program last month. “I’ve been doing this for about 20 years now [with] Harristown and I haven’t seen this much development in my entire career here.” ....

The COVID-19 pandemic might have slowed down business openings and construction but it certainly hasn’t stopped them.
A number of housing developments are planned in Harrisburg, Susquehanna Township, Hampden Township, East Pennsboro Township and throughout the midstate.
And stores including REI Co-op, PaulB Mechanicsburg, Five Below and TJ Maxx are all opening new locations in central Pennsylvania this year.
And three companies have plans to open multiple locations in the region: Shiny Shell CarWash, Xfinity and Pet Supplies Plus.
Other new locations include a childcare center, a hospital, newly built medical offices, a doggie daycare, restaurants, hotels, an indoor trampoline park and more. ....
