The Indian government has received a positive response from global companies, including Lenovo, HP, Dell, and Acer, for its Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for hardware. The government has received applications from 32 companies for the scheme, which aims to promote the manufacturing of laptops, PCs, tablets, and other devices in India. However, Apple has not shown interest in the scheme.
This expansion of the PLI Scheme follows the previous approval of a similar scheme for IT hardware in February 2021, which had an outlay of Rs 7,350 crore
