Manda Kotarac


On June 28th 2021 our beloved mom and “Baba”, Manda Kotarac in her 94th year of life, passed away peacefully in her home at Pioneer Ridge with her devoted and loving children at her side as they have been her whole life.
Manda was born on December 4th, 1927 in Lovinac Lika, Hrvatska. As a young women she moved to Zagreb where she started her career as a post office clerk and bookkeeper until her decision to make her journey to Canada. She landed in Port Arthur, Ontario on June 29th, 1957. Both of her parents were here at the time, her mission was to earn enough money so that she could help pay the way for her parents to return to their homeland and reunite with family. This she accomplished and more, working as a bar maid at the Princess Hotel to start and living on Nugent Street in Port Arthur where she met her husband to be, Branko. They married on December 27th 1958 and so her story begins. ....

Pamela Jo-Anne Jacobson


Pamela Jo-Anne Jacobson, (nee Dagg), passed away peacefully at Lakehead Manor, Thunder Bay, Ontario on June 30, 2021. Born on November 2nd, 1943 in Montreal, Quebec, she moved with her parents and older brother to Holland, Manitoba in 1944. In 1949, she began her education in the school attended by her father, Walter Dagg and all her aunts and uncles. The family moved to Thunder Bay (Fort William), Ontario in 1951 and Jo-Anne attended Kingsway Park K-8, FWCI, and graduated from McKellar School of Nursing in 1965. She was employed at McKellar General Hospital and several nursing homes, and Lakehead Manor for twenty years until she retired at age 60. She was a faithful member of the Broadway United Church family. In earlier years, she attended Brownies and Girl Guides, achieving her Gold Cord. ....
