(grant) prosecutors have now obtained a grand jury indictment. charging cowell in the stabbing death of 18-year-old nia wilson. she and her sister were stabbed on the platform at the mac-arthur station in oakland.back in july. 27-year-old john lee cowell appeared in court in oakland today. the grand jury indictment replaces a criminal complaint prosecutors filed earlier.. charging cowell with murder and attempted murder. prosecutors say the indictment will get cowell to trial more quickly.and includes a lying in wait enhancement.alleging the knife attack on nia wilson and her sister was premeditated. cowell could face the death penalty.but at least some members of wilson s family think that life in prison is sufficient.
