Party leader and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, said in a statement that the state government should have pressured the Union government for Haj embarking points in Chennai and Tiruchi for the pilgrims.
TN Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has urged Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to re-designate Chennai as Haj Embarkation Point for the pilgrims from Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states for Hajj 2022.
The addition of Ozar (also spelled as Ojhar) Airport in the list of Hajj Embarkation Points will ease the difficulties Muslims from Nashik, Malegaon, Dhule and other cities and towns of North Maharashtra face while travelling to Makkah to perform the annual Haj rituals.
