Parents step up as schools reopen

PETALING JAYA: Primary schools nationwide have reopened fully and parents are rallying as volunteers to ensure it runs smoothly.
This is the first time primary schools have reopened in full since their gradual closure last September, along with secondary schools, due to the spike in Covid-19 cases.
A total of 1.8 million pupils from Years Three to Six returned yesterday.
Checks by The Star at several schools revealed that some schools had parents come in as volunteers to manage the situation in the morning, and others had the assistance of police officers and Rela members to help them control the after-school situation. ....

SEREMBAN, March 8: The Education Ministry (MOE) has requested the cooperation of parents in adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially during the dispersal of students, as part of precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the community.
Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said that schools had produced student dispersal schedules using various methods, and it was very important for parents to follow the rules given in order to protect their children’s safety. ....

Primary schools fully reopen on Monday (March 8)


PETALING JAYA: Primary schools have reopened in full on Monday (March 8).
The last batch of pupils to return for face-to-face classes are Years Three to Six, totalling 1.8 million students.
This is the first time primary schools nationwide have reopened fully since their gradual closure in September last year, along with secondary schools, due to the spike in Covid-19 cases.

The Star at several schools revealed that the majority of pupils followed standard operating procedures (SOP) and showed up in school as early as 6.45am.
While some schools had Malaysian Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel helping to control the situation, others had parents showing up as volunteers. ....

Easing their way back to school


PETALING JAYA: Some parents and pupils are just happy to be back in school even as daily Covid-19 cases continue to be in the thousands.
Schools began reopening in stages yesterday starting with 1.1 million preschoolers, Year One and Year Two pupils returning for face-to-face lessons.
It was the first time preschoolers and Year One pupils had stepped into their schools since they
reopened on Jan 20 but some had already got used to being “in school”, making the transition from home to classroom easier.
Shanti Panchadcharam said her Year One daughter was already comfortable with her teachers and had made friends through her online lessons. ....
