Now fewer than 17 persons including women and children have been reportedly killed by armed herdsmen in the home town of the Wife of the Benue state Governor, Mrs. Eunice Ortom, in separate attacks on two communities in Gwer West Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state
Vanguard gathered that the communities affected in the fresh attacks were Agbanu, along Naka-Agagbe road, Saghev Council Ward and Tse Amgbem close to Aondoana all in Gwer West LGA.
The attackers who reportedly burnt down Tse Amgbem in Tijime Council Ward and sacked the inhabitants of the community also left scores injured and many fleeing to nearby Aondoana community. ....

Leader of the bandits who abducted students of Greenfield University, Kaduna, Sani Jalingo, yesterday threatened to kill the remaining students in his gang’s captivity, if a N100 million ransom was not paid latest today.
He also demanded for an additional 10 motorbikes before the remaining students would be freed.
This came as suspected herdsmen attacked some communities in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, between Sunday and yesterday, killing no fewer than 19 people, including children.
Also, the abductors of Yagba West Local Government chairman in Kogi State, Mr. Pius Kolawole, who was kidnapped on Saturday evening, yesterday demanded N100 million for his release. ....

Police confirm attacks on Benue communities
The police in Benue also named some of the attacked communities.

The Police in Benue have confirmed attacks by some gunmen on communities in Gwer West Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Catherine Anene, confirmed the attack on Monday to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The police spokesperson said the command was yet to receive full details of the incident.
Ms Anene said that gunmen in the early hours of Monday attacked Mbamondu and Vengav, in Avihijime council ward in Udam and Tse Amgbem close to Aondona, all in Gwer West Local Government. ....

Bandits Threaten to Kill Abducted Greenfield University Students Today

Bandits who abducted some students of Greenfield University in Kaduna have threatened to kill the remaining ones still in captivity if their demand for ransom is not met by today.
In an interview with the Voice of America (VOA), Hausa service, one Sani Jalingo who claimed to be the leader of the abductors, warned that if the state government or parents of the students fail to pay a ransom of N100 million and provide them with 10 new Honda motorcycles by today, the remaining students would be killed.
This is coming as no fewer than 17 villagers were feared killed in a fresh attack by suspected herdsmen in Benue State. ....
