Not only did it see the loss of a vitally important source of support for young people in the region, but also left the city an entertainment and conference venue light.
A year later and the instantly recognisable former banking hall on Bank Plain remains empty, with the coronavirus pandemic putting the brakes on any swift solution.
However, The Lind Trust, which owns the building, is hopeful it will soon be put back to good use, with talks over its future ongoing.

His memorial looks over Norwich: Who was Ralph Hale Mottram?

Encouraged by the author John Galsworthy who, along with his wife Ada, was a friend of the family, Ralph had been writing ever since he was a lad.
When his father retired from the bank in 1902 the family moved to the lofty and leafy suburbs of Bracondale.
In his book From the Window Seat he wrote: “The house that mother and Aunt Maria Clark had so well chosen was 21 Bracondale. It cost some £1,200.”
He wrote of the wonderful views across the city and beyond from the “sky parlour” built in the house by “old Mr Blake, the builder” who lived there saying: “It was the finest window seat I had ever had…” ....

Former Harleston post office turned designer home goes up for sale for £1.1 million

A 231-year-old former post office in Harleston, which was converted into a designer home, has gone up for sale.
The Old Post Office, in Old Market Place, has been put up on the market with a guide price of Â£1.1 million.
The building was, at one point, also a bank, but has now been converted into a state-of-the-art eight-bedroom home.
The former post office sits squarely in the middle of Harleston town centre Picture: Mark Bullimore Photography.
Inside, the building boasts an original chandelier from the Savoy in London and an art deco chaise, the latter formerly belonging to world-renowned fashion designer Tom Ford. ....
